What is Aquastat?
What is Aquastat?
This is a sulfur-based preservative that protects the building materials from the atmospheric actions and hostile environments during a long time.
This is a sulfur-based preservative that protects the building materials from the atmospheric actions and hostile environments during a long time.
Hydrophobization results from the use of the inorganic material, sulfur. Being in pores of the building materials sulfur gives to the latter waterproof property for a long time. That differs inorganic materials from organic paints.

During the impregnation molecules of sulfur get into the pores as part of a water-soluble substance. At a stage of drying the substance disintegrates and water-insoluble layer of elemental sulfur is formed on the surface of the pores.

The technology of working with Aquastat is easy and understandable: like most of the varnishes, the product is applied with brush, pouring, spraying, immersion at any temperatures above zero. The composition can't be washed away in the water. It's an effective priming tool to use before applying organosilicons and solvent-based paints.

Material properties
Concrete is porous, and that may cause the fracture: the water get into through the pores and cracks, which leads to the destruction of the surface, especially in the fluctuations of temperature.
Effect
Our product is sulphide solution that get into the pores of a material with water. After drying the water evaporates and the solution obstructs the pores with hydrophobic sulfur molecules, forming a protective coating.
Result
Aquastat doesn't allow the water get into the pores and cracks of the material: it slips or evaporates, but doesn't absorb. This significantly increases the service life of concrete surfaces.
